Pun, Hubert and Philip Kim (2016). "Transfer Value of Soccer Players," Ivey Management Services [Case No.: 9B16E030, Teaching Note: 8B16E030, Student Spreadsheet: 7B16E030]
"Professor Kim always comes to class excited and ready to teach. One of the things I appreciate most about him is his commitment to his students and how much he cares about our understanding of the material. He begins each lecture with a recap and perfectly times his lectures to include all of the content required for that day along with time for questions. This is genuinely one of my favorite classes I have ever taken. I wish that all of my other classes would follow the structure of this course."
"I really enjoyed how there were so many real–world examples when explaining challenging topics and materials. I also liked the format of the class because I was able to take thoughtful notes throughout each lecture and then during the exams, I was able to reference these notes, which I really enjoyed. This format also helped me learn a lot because I was able to remember what I learned after each lecture."
“Our professor has always been very open in talking to students and working around any potential conflicts they might have. For example, one of my group members suffered a bad concussion, and he graciously extended our deadline for a project because she was prohibited from doing schoolwork during her recovery. I also liked how we did a lot of survey–type TopHat questions because it gave a lot of insight to how people feel about marketing strategies, which is important to be familiar with in a class like this. Also, you could tell our professor is very knowledgeable about what he's teaching, and I never found myself confused.”
"I found the material interesting and Professor Kim seemed like he was very knowledgeable about the subject matter. I also liked the group project I found the case studies very interesting and applicable to the real world."
"I liked the emphasis on using the material in application and thought rather than blanket memorization. Professor was always available to talk to students and very open to working stuff out if a situation arises."
"The course material was very interesting. However, what benefited this class most was the instructor. Much too often examples are outdated but our instructor showed relevant examples to push the course material making all of it very digestible."
"I enjoyed learning about real life examples and about different strategies of marketing. It helped put into perspective how I interact with products and advertisements."
"Professor Kim has a genuine interests for the way marketing effects our lives as consumers and wants to convey that concept to us."
"What I liked most about Philip was his eagerness to teach and his commitment to continuously improving his methods of teaching to better engage the class."
